Battle Line Drawn, Nigerians Living In Durban South Africa Vow To Fight Back.

Image
A group of Nigerians living in Mahatma Gandhi Road in Durban have vowed to defend themselves if attacked by the locals. Solomon Okoro, 31, according to iol.co.za, said they have been receiving threatening messages but were alert and prepared for any trouble if police are not willing to protect them. He said they would have guns, knives and bottles ready. Okoro said they have no choice but to defend themselves if under attack. “It is not like we do not know how to fight. It would not be a good thing because this is not our country, we are not here to fight. Also local people are our friends, we eat and drink together. Those fighting are racist – they cannot live side by side with other Africans. We (did) a lot for this country during apartheid. But now that everything is hunky dory we are being attacked… This smacks of hypocrisy,” he said.

A plot to extradite me to the us by Obasanjo-Buruji Kashamu

Chieftain of the PDP, and Senator-elect for Ogun East Senatorial District, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has raised alarm over what he describes as a plan by former President Obasanjo to instigate local and foreign security agencies to arrest him in Nigeria and extradite him to the US, to answer to some alleged drug-related charges. Recall that Prince Kashamu was the one who got the Federal High court order that banned the former President's autobiography, My Watch, which has now been vacated by the same court. Prince Kashamu had accused Chief Obasanjo of dedicating some portions of his book on his alleged involvement in drug pushing and an allegation that he is a wanted fugitive in America, a subject matter he said had already been surrendered to a competent court of jurisdiction.

Grant Presidential pardon to James Ibori before you leaves Aso Roc...... Ijaw group asks GEJ

Image
An Ijaw group called the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, over the weekend asked President Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, before he leaves as president of Nigeria on May 29th. "Ibori should be freed. Hundreds of persons, who looted heavily from government coffers are walking freely in the streets. The continuous incarceration of one corrupt man among a million other corrupt citizens cannot change the menace of high level corruption in the country. Ibori’s imprisonment could be seen as a witch-hunt and such is highly barbaric and provocative and the Nigerian government must quickly do something about his matter. Despite the ordeals Ibori is passing through, Deltans hold him in high esteem and his great achievements while in office cannot be discountenanced. There should be no sacred cow among political office holders. Ibori’s case is not different, he is a victim of circumstance

Can a true born again girl be romantic?

One can't underestimate the benefit of getting married to a born again girl. The spiritual support she'll give her husband and family is priceless, but sometimes I kinda wonder if her very spiritual side won't end up creating less affection and make the marriage less fun(romance-less) in the long run. Which could be part of reason why guys are not very comfortable with marrying born again girls... Your thoughts will be very much appreciated,  and with explanation

Buhari deniel snubbing Custom and Nscdc boss

Nigeria’s President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed as fictional and uncharitable report by an online medium that had walked some government officials out of his residence in Daura, Katsina State. A statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC presidential Campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu on Wednesday, April 15 denied any such incident took place as reported by the online newspaper. “It was a false and an inaccurate presentation of the facts of what transpired when some government officials visited the president-elect at his Daura country home. It is totally out of General Buhari’s character to ask his visitors out.” Shehu stated that the alleged visit by the comptroller-Generalal of the Customs, Abdullahi Inde only happened in the imagination of the said publication. “He did not come visiting at any time.” On the other reported incident involving Dr. Ade Abolurin, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, She

The worst cities in the world for rush hour traffic

Image
Istanbul, Turkey  (iStock) How bad is your daily commute? Do you try to get to your desk early or leave late to avoid traffic? You're not alone: according to TomTom, Planet Earth's commuters waste an average of 100 hours each year sitting in their cars during crunch times -- and that's just during the evening rush. But no matter how bad you think your city is, it could probably be worse. Which metro areas are the world's worst for traffic? To find out, TomTom pulled 2014 travel data from vehicles in 218 cities around the world. According to the company, "All data is based on actual GPS measurements from TomTom's historical traffic database. For some cities we use GPS data from our partners, such as AutoNavi." What TomTom discovered was that America has it pretty good. Of the ten most congested cities on the planet, only one is located in the U.S. (No prizes for guessing which city that is.) The worst of the

An explosion near a bus station in the northeast Nigerian city of Gombe killed at least five and injured 15 others, witnesses told AFP on Thursday, in an attack that bore the hallmarks of Boko Haram. “We had an explosion outside the motor park (bus station) this evening around 8:30 pm (1930 GMT) which killed five people and injured 15 others,” said Muhammad Garkuwa, a drivers’ union official. “The explosion was from an explosive left by a woman in her handbag beside a bus waiting to convey passengers to Jos,” he said in an account supported by a nearby food seller. The attack is the latest in a string of similar explosions against so-called “soft targets” such as busy bus stations and crowded markets in the restive northeast, which has been hit for the last six years by Boko Haram Islamists. How Significant Is Good Friday?

Today is being celebrated the world over as the beginning of Easter. The day when Jesus christ was nailed to the cross, he died and rose up the next day. The crucifixion of Jesus christ symbolizes his redemption of our sins and this is why Christians celebrate this day all over the world. In Nigeria, some people avoid eating meat today and this has been the practice since I was young. What other things do you do to mark this special day? Have a splendid and wonderful day.

GEJ Stops PDP’s Bid To Contest Buhari’s Victory

President Goodluck Jonathan may have prevailed on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to challenge President-elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s victory  in last Saturday’s election. Instead of planning a case for the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, the Presidency will raise a Transition Committee on Tuesday, a source told The Nation yesterday. Vice President-elect Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is likely to head the All Progressives Congress (APC) team which will join the committee ahead of the May 29 transition. Ministers have started preparing their handover notes, it was also learnt. It was gathered that although some PDP stalwarts wanted Buhari’s victory challenged at the tribunal, the President thought otherwise. The party stalwarts, it was said, believe that some irregularities in some states are strong enough to upturn the final results of the election, which was hailed at home and abroad as substantially credible. Jonathan, it was learnt, said it made no sense —conte

South East fails to produce Nigeria's next Senate President

Image
According to political analysts, the South East has lost the opportunity of producing the next Senate President or the Speaker of the House of Representative in the Gen Buhari-led administration come May 29th. According to political calculations, anyone who is to occupy these positions must come from the ruling party. Since the number one and two positions have already been taken by Gen Buhari a Hausa man and Prof Osinbajo, a Yoruba man, the Ibos were favored to produce the third key official, the Senate President. But with all the 15 senatorial seats in the South East states of Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu & Ebonyi won by the PDP in last week's elections, the Ibos may have lost out in producing the next Senate president. Senator Chris Ngige representing Anambra Central senatorial district who many believe was being positioned by the APC to be the next Senate President lost his bid to return to the Senate to PDP's Uche Ekwunife.

Two killed by gunmen in Kenya university attack

Photo: Mashables Masked gunmen stormed a university in northeast Kenya at dawn Thursday, killing at least two people at the campus not far from war-torn Somalia’s lawless border. “Gunmen forced their way into Garissa University by shooting at the guards manning the main gate at around 5:30 am,” said Kenya Police Chief Joseph Boinet. “The gunmen shot indiscriminately while inside the university compound,” he said. The number of students and teachers trapped inside the campus was unclear and gunfire and explosions could be heard coming from the site. At least two people have been killed and four injured in the attack, according to Kenya’s official National Disaster Operations Centre said. There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the town lies roughly 150 kilometres (90 miles) west of Somalia and has in the past been targeted by militants from the Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab. A witness, Ahmed Nur, said he saw the bodies of two university guards, shot by the
